Dr. Sorin Voinigescu, a CMC-supported researcher at the University of Toronto, is co-founder of Peraso Technologies Inc., which is focused on developing mm-wave technology. By transmitting data up to 50 times faster than some of today’s best technologies, the fabless semiconductor company will address what has been one of the biggest challenges in cell phone networks.

It won’t be long before you can drop by your favourite video rental store to download a movie onto your cell phone in about ten seconds and later project it directly from the phone onto a wall monitor. Or do a boardroom presentation right from your cell phone to a projector.

Thanks to the development of a new multi-gigabit mm-wave integrated circuit by Peraso Technologies Inc., lower power mobile applications such as cell phones, smart phones and laptops are soon to get a whole lot faster. More precisely, they will be transmitting data up to 50 times faster than some of today’s best technologies.
