Dr. Michel Pioro-Ladrière

Headshot of Michel Pioro-Ladriere
Director of Partnerships and Strategy
Nord Quantique

Michel Pioro-Ladrière is an expert in spin qubits technologies and serves as the Director of Partnerships and Strategy at Nord Quantique. He received a PhD (2005) in experimental Physics from Université de Sherbrooke, in partnership with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), winning the NRC Exceptional Accomplishment Award in the process. He was then welcomed as a postdoctoral fellow at the Japan Science and Technology Agency from 2005 to 2009, where he pioneered a micro-magnet approach to realize efficient single spin rotations, which is now used worldwide in spin-based quantum information processing research. He was recruited back in 2009 by Université de Sherbrooke, in collaboration with the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), to jump-start the first research program in Canada that utilizes components found in today’s microchips to ultimately create a quantum computer. Michel Pioro-Ladrière is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and 4 patents. Prof. Pioro-Ladrière was a CIFAR fellow in the Quantum Information Science program for a decade and is now a member of Unité Mixte Internationale – Laboratoire Nanotechnologies & Nanosystèmes of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique of France.
