Design Kits and Libraries Available Through the MOSIS Service

Through a partnership with MOSIS, CMC offers access to CMOS technology. Access is limited to MOSIS account holders who are approved by TSMC and GLOBALFOUNDRIES. You may access this technology only if your university has signed certain agreements with GLOBALFOUNDRIES, TSMC and MOSIS.

To access the TSMC libraries, a Library Usage Agreement must be signed. Contact your STC Administrator for access. For more information contact Linda Dougherty at licensing@cmc.ca or 613-530-4787.

TSMC 65 & 90 nm CMOS

1. Obtain a MOSIS Account
To use this technology, your university must have a current MOSIS commercial account. The university must have signed a MOSIS customer agreement. Your STC Administrator should know if you have such an account.

*      List of STC Administrators         If these agreements are not yet in place, your STC administrator needs to arrange for an official signatory of the university to sign the MOSIS commercial account application and the customer agreement .

2. Obtain TSMC Approval
To start the approval process, complete and submit the online Vendor Document Access Request form
. Note that this form must be completed by a faculty member (staff and student applications are not accepted).

To obtain any of the design kits for TSMC technologies, the Account Liaison must complete the Academic Account Request for Document Access application form , including signing the Individual Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) for University Account Liaison (Faculty). The Application includes:

*      Account Information

*      Fabrication Plan

*      Account Liaison NDA

*      List of all students, staff, and other faculty who have signed individual NDAs (Note that these documents have an expiry date: student NDAs must be renewed every six months, while staff and faculty NDAs must be renewed annually.) All individuals who intend to use the technology must sign individual NDAs .

HOW TO GET AND INSTALL THE DESIGN KIT

  1. The STC Administrator/MOSIS Account Liaison, with a user account and password, can obtain required design kits and libraries by logging into the Account Management section at: https://www.mosis.com/pages/account-login

2.     A current list of design kits and IP libraries for each technology can be found at:

TSMC 65nm GP cmos

         TSMC 65nm LP cmos

       - TSMC 90nm cmos

3. After downloading the design kit and IP libraries, the STC Administrator/MOSIS Account Liaison needs to extract the files from the compressed file and follow the installation instructions provided in CMC's Product & Service Announcement (sent to STC Administrators only) and in the README file included in the kit/library.

Steps to Get Access

Canadian universities must obtain the GLOBALFOUNDRIES' 0.13-micron CMOS design kit directly from MOSIS. To get this intellectual property, and fabrication services, universities must complete specific steps that meet The MOSIS Service's obligations to GLOBALFOUNDRIES .

Who can complete the steps?

Each university's STC Administrator (Administrator of CMC's Supported Technology Configuration) coordinates completion of the required steps. Acting as the Account Liaison, the STC Administrator can also fill out various forms. This is a departure from standard MOSIS practice, which generally requires Account Liaisons to be faculty members, and is intended to improve the consistency and versioning of technology files at CMC's member universities (CMC notifies STC Administrator about how to obtain and install design kits and libraries, and provides related support).

List of STC Administrators

Legal agreements must be signed by an
Authorized Signatory at the university. The Authorized Signatory is usually the Vice-President of Research or head of Research Services.

Step 5 below has a summary table of the actions and documents required.

NOTE: In any document that requests a Fabrication Plan, if you do not know the date and design size, please enter "TBD".

STEP 1: MOSIS CUSTOMER AGREEMENT

Determine whether your university has signed a MOSIS Customer Agreement which is a prerequisite to get any product or service through MOSIS. If you are unsure whether your university has signed the MOSIS agreement, submit a support case to MOSIS at https://www.mosis.com/support/online-support

If your university has not signed this document, it must be obtained from http://www.mosis.com/forms/mosis_forms/mosis-customer-agreement.pdf
and completed and signed,
in duplicate, by an Authorized Signatory.

STEP 2: MOSIS COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT

Your university's STC Administrator/MOSIS Account Liaison can determine if your university has established a MOSIS Commercial Account which is also a prerequisite to get any product or service through MOSIS, and is responsible for taking any of these Step 2 actions. Only STC Administrators can access the list of account numbers, account status and technology licenses.

No, my university does not have an Account, active or expired: The Account Liaison should ensure that a MOSIS Customer Agreement has been signed in duplicate by an Authorized Signatory (if necessary, see Step 1), and then the Account Liaison should complete the Commercial Account Application (including Application for Access to Vendor Proprietary Documents).  You may also review the MOSIS Educational "Program Policy For Document Access By University Accounts".

In the "Application for Access to Vendor Proprietary Documents", the Account Type for all CMC Member University accounts should be "Commercial" and the STC Administrators should designate themselves as both the "Administrative" and "Technical" Points of Contact.
NOTE: The
Academic Account Document Access Application must be renewed annually.

Along with the application for document access, you must submit a Mini-Proposal. Send your mini-proposal electronically to support@mosis.com. It must be in PDF format. Be sure to state in the accompanying e-mail message that the attached proposal is for document access. Then follow the actions in Step 3 below to get access to the GLOBALFOUNDRIES' 0.13-micron CMOS design kit and documents..

Yes, my university does have one or more Commercial Accounts, either active or expired:

Each university should have only one active Commercial Account. In the case of multiple accounts, the STC Administrator/MOSIS Account Liaison should determine which should be retained or re-activated if expired.

To renew an expired Commercial Account, the STC Administrator/MOSIS Account Liaison should take the actions set out in Step 3B.

STEP 3: DOCUMENTS AND ACTIONS SPECIFIC TO GLOBAL FOUNDRIES

The Account Liaison should request an Authorized Signatory to sign, in duplicate, the following three agreements:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Confidential Disclosure Agreement
Not required if your university is already authorized for GLOBALFOUNDRIES' 0.13-micron CMOS

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Design Kit License Agreement

Not required if your university is already authorized for GLOBALFOUNDRIES' 0.13-micron CMOS

STEP 4: PROTECTION OF GLOBALFOUNDRIES INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Account Liaisons must ensure that all researchers using the GLOBALFOUNDRIES kit(s) at their university sign a MOSIS Individual Non Disclosure Agreement for University Account Students and Staff. These individual agreements should be retained on file by the Account Liaison.

To keep the account active, the Account Liaisons must supply MOSIS with copies of the Individual NDAs every six (6) monthsA reminder e-mail will be provided by MOSIS three weeks in advance of the NDA submission deadline.

STEP 5: REVIEW ALL ACTIONS AND ENSURE DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED
