The Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence

2016 Colton Medal winner Dr. Reza Nosrati with Ian McWalter, President & CEO, CMC Microsystems. An NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Queen’s University, Dr. Nosrati was recognized for his pioneering work in assisted reproduction, including the development of novel microfluidics and nanotechnologies leading to more effective fertility treatments. His work also shows potential in cell biology, sensing and early stage cancer detection.

About the Colton Medal: 

Canada’s National Design Network® (NDN), managed by CMC Microsystems, has honoured excellence in Canadian micro-nano research for more than 20 years through its annual Douglas R. Colton award.

Established in honour of the founding president of CMC Microsystems, this award includes a medal and a monetary prize of $4,500.    

Candidates for the award may be faculty, students or alumnae who have successfully completed a Master's or PhD degree in a Canadian university within the previous three calendar years.
