The forward and reverse scattering parameters, also called Transmission and Reflection Coefficients, of two-port devices are determined by vector network analysis. Calibration brings the measurement planes to the input/output ports of the device and where it is not possible to connect directly to those ports, de-embedding measurements can be obtained to remove the effects of fixtures or probe pad parasitics. Through the scattering parameters, non-linear effects of gain compression can be measured over a broad range of frequencies.
