Canada’s Semiconductor Ecosystem, Accelerated
FABrIC is a proposed five-year $200M plus project led by CMC Microsystems and fourteen other founding organizations to secure Canada’s future in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and design.
Microchips (chips, integrated circuits, semiconductors) are essential to modern economies and drive innovation in industrial sectors including electrified transportation, healthcare, clean-tech, precision agriculture, and more.

Companies and academic researchers leverage FABrIC to accelerate the development of
- made-in-Canada microchip manufacturing processes,
- internet-connected products and services (IoT), and
- quantum technologies
and take these Canadian-made innovations to the global market.
FABrIC is a project proposal to Canada’s Federal Government with a start date in 2024, subject to funding.
