CADpass client secure connection (will be referred to as CADpass client or CADpass in this document) is a utility provided by CMC Microsystems that creates a secure connection between client PCs, workstations, and computer sessions, and the CMC managed infrastructure.
This quick start guide provides instructions for installing IntelliSuite on a Windows system using CMC Microsystem’s CADpass Client to access shared licenses on the CMC License Management System (LMS).
Prerequisites
You must meet the following criteria before installing IntelliSuite:
- Students must register with CMC Microsystems at https://account.cmc.ca/MyAccount/MyAccount.aspx.
- Faculty supervisors can subscribe through the CMC subscription page at https://www.cmc.ca/subscriptions/.
- You must have administrator rights for the workstation on which you are installing this software.
- You must have a unique login name (Linux or Windows) that does not contain a blank space. A username such as “charlie brown” contains a space, while usernames such as “charlie.brown” or “charlie_brown” do not contain spaces.
The following are examples of unacceptable login names because they are not unique: admin or administrator, root, super, sysadm, user, owner, student, guest, temp, and system.

- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- 3D video card with 4 GB VRAM (CUDA-compatible video card to run GPU version of IntelliEtch/FabSim)
- Ethernet network adapter card 10/100MB

Setting up CADpass Client for Use with IntelliSuite
CADpass client is a CMC Microsystems’ license access client and is used by subscribers across Canada to connect to our secure license server(s).
- Follow the instructions in the quick start guide to download and install the CADpass client.
- Start the CADpass client and log in using your CMC Microsystems username and password.
- When the CADpass Client window appears, from the left pane, select Welcome.
Verify that the connection status located at the lower right corner of the window is CMC License Services connected, as shown in Figure 1.

Obtaining the Software
Go to https://www.cmc.ca/tools/ and browse to the IntelliSuite download page. Download the compressed (zipped) installation file setup_x64_v9.2 to a temporary location.
Installing the Software
- Extract the compressed folder into a temporary directory. You can use any extraction tool, such as WinZip or WinRAR, to extract the setup file into a temporary directory.
Note: If you do not have an extraction tool, you can download the freeware 7zip utility located at http://www.7-zip.org/
- Open the uncompressed folder and start the IntelliSuite installation by double-clicking the setup file setup_x64_v9.2.0.133.
The window InstallShield Wizard appears, as shown in Figure 2.

- Click Next.
The window License Agreement appears. - To proceed with the installation, read through the agreement and check I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.
The window Customer Information appears, as shown in Figure 3.

- Enter your User Name and Organization, check Only for me (Admin), and click Next.
The window Setup Type appears. - Select Complete and click Next.
The window Ready to Install appears. - Click Install.
The installation starts and it may take several minutes. - Once the installation is complete, click Finish.
- Locate the IntelliSuite installation folder on your computer.
Typically, you will see a folder named IntelliSuite in the C drive. - Go to the folder C:\IntelliSuite\net_license, locate the LIST file server, and open it using a text editor such as Notepad.
- Enter the following server information:

type a2.cmc.caas shown in Figure 4.
Note: Always check CADpass Licensing Information for the latest Port number and Hostname (Server Name).

- Save the file.
- Open the application ClientConfig_x64 located in the same net_license. Ensure a2.cmc.ca is in the License Server Computer Name list, as shown in Figure 5.
Note: If you do not see the license server name, return to steps 11 and 12 and ensure that you save the LIST file after entering the license server name.

- Click Connect to License Server.
- Once connected, click Close.
The installation is complete. You can find all IntelliSuite modules on your desktop in a folder named IntelliSuite. Use this folder to open and run any of the IntelliSuite modules. You can also run any IntelliSuite application from the Start Menu on your Windows computer.
Software Updates
Check the CMC website to install any updates that might become available during this six-month trial period.
