Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How many hours per week does the program require?
A: Each course includes approximately 2 hours of live instruction and 2 hours of lab or support time per week over 8 weeks.
Q: Are the live sessions recorded?
A: Lab recordings will be available for 3 months after the cohort. Any additional recording access should be confirmed before launch.
Q: What is the difference between T1, T2, and T3?
A: T1 focuses on front-end RTL, synthesis, and verification. T2 focuses on back-end digital IC physical design. T3 focuses on advanced high-speed SerDes and mixed-signal interface design.
Q: Is the certificate recognized by Canadian employers?
A: The certificate is issued by CMC Microsystems. The curriculum is developed with input from Canadian semiconductor employers and the Industry Training Advisory Group.
Q: Can international participants take the courses?
A: The Fall 2026 cohort is limited to participants based in Canada. Participants outside Canada may be contacted if future cohorts expand internationally.
Q: Is there a discount for group registration?
A: A 10% discount will be given to employers registering 3 or more employees in a given course.
Q: Can I miss a few sessions and still earn the certificate?
A: Yes, within limits. To earn the certificate, participants must attend at least 75% of live sessions (lectures and labs combined) and complete all required lab assignments and the final design project. Recordings of missed lectures will be available, but viewing a recording does not count toward the live-attendance requirement. If you anticipate missing more than 25% of sessions, please contact us before registering.
Q: What is the cancellation and refund policy?
A: Event cancellations must be received in writing at least two (2) weeks before the beginning date of the event in question to receive a full refund of the registration fee. A cancellation made after the deadline will not receive a refund. CMC Microsystems makes no commitments on refunds for travel or accommodations.
The following additional terms apply to this training program:
Substitutions. Employers may substitute another eligible employee for a registered participant at any time before the course start date at no charge. Contact [email protected] with the replacement participant’s details.
Cancellation by CMC Microsystems. CMC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a course due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. Registered participants will be notified in advance and offered a full refund or transfer to a future cohort
