James Watt is a senior technology executive and engineer with more than three decades of experience translating advanced communications technologies into successful global businesses. Most recently, he served as President of Nokia’s Optical Networks Business Division, where he led a major transformation of the business and Nokia’s acquisition and integration of Infinera.
Over the course of his career at Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, Alcatel and Newbridge Networks, James has served as CTO, COO, President and General Manager. His extensive experience across optical networking, IP routing and broadband access encompasses R&D, product strategy, global operations, business transformation and M&A.
James holds multiple patents, primarily in traffic management and Internet Protocol, reflecting the deep technical expertise he has brought to business leadership throughout his career. He earned a B.Sc. (Honours) in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University.
