By joining CMC, students and faculty at Cégep de Sherbrooke and RRC Polytech gain access to an extensive offering of world-class facilities and tools to design, fabricate, and test their ideas. These resources, as well as access to CMC’s ecosystem of researchers, start-ups, and entrepreneurs, will help students develop skills they need to thrive in the competitive, advanced technology marketplace.
RRC Polytech, which offers leading-edge training in areas such as Information Security, Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Full Stack Web Development, has recently launched a new Digital Technology Transformation Initiative (DTTI). The DTTI aims to rapidly accelerate digitally-focused applied research expertise at RRC Polytech in the areas of advanced digital manufacturing (ADM) and climate/clean tech, so access to CMC’s extensive library of resources will help the College continue to address industry’s most critical needs.
“Creating opportunity in the rapidly evolving technology sector is key to driving Manitoba’s economy forward so RRC Polytech is committed to building relationships that not only enhance the student experience but impact the entire community,” says Jamie Wilson, Vice President of Indigenous Strategy, Research and Business Development at RRC Polytech. “Partnering with CMC Microsystems gives the workforce of tomorrow access to some incredible tools while connecting students and researchers with a national network of industry partners and entrepreneurs which will accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to technology adoption.”
The Cégep de Sherbrooke is at the heart of the Zone d’Innovation de Sherbrooke, and plays a key role in Quebec’s innovation ecosystem. Productique Québec, the technology transfer at the Cégep de Sherbrooke, is a true pioneer in the dissemination of Industry 4.0 concepts in Quebec, and helps businesses improve their productivity and stimulate innovation by promoting adoption of digital technologies.
For the Cégep de Sherbrooke, joining CMC provides faculty, researchers and students with access to specialized tools for applied research. “The software tools and manufacturing possibilities offered by CMC enrich the applied research ecosystem in the Sherbrooke region. This access will make it possible to consolidate existing multidisciplinary collaborations and help create new ones.”
For CMC President and CEO Gordon Harling, both institutions are a great fit for CMC. “Both RRC and Cégep de Sherbrooke excel in applied research and innovation —meaning they deliver returns on investment for our economy by training world class personnel, increasing productivity, and ensuring that Canada is competitive on the world stage. We look forward to working together to accelerate research and innovation in Canada.
