November 11, 2025: Throughout her career Lynn has been a tireless champion for Canada’s semiconductor industry. She’s been a major player during an era of great achievement and change for the sector. Her impact has been felt across the spectrum – from industry giants, to startups, to teaching and mentoring the emerging generation of semiconductor talent. Always a tireless advocate for the accomplishments and untapped potential of the Canadian industry, in recent years, she dedicated her efforts to growing the Canadian semiconductor ecosystem. As VP, FABrIC at CMC, she continued that work — and played a critical role getting the initiative off the ground, growing the ecosystem and positioning this generational investment for ongoing success.  

Ottawa, ON—October 28, 2025—The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) and CMC Microsystems are proud to announce a new national partnership designed to advance Canada’s semiconductor ecosystem by building a highly skilled and future-ready talent pipeline.

With the right support, Canada’s semiconductor industry will not only contribute billions of dollars and create thousands of jobs for the Canadian economy – it will enhance the competitive capacity of our most important industries.

That is the core message behind the pre-budget submission jointly developed by CMC Microsystems, ICTC, SECTR, ventureLAB and Canada’s Semiconductor Council. Semiconductors are the backbone of a 21st century economy. From telecommunications, automotive, advanced manufacturing to mining and natural resources, precision agriculture, oceans and medtech, a vibrant semiconductor sector is essential as Canada mobilizes to strengthen domestic industries and pursue global markets.

The submission underscores the need for a secure talent pipeline, protections for Canadian intellectual property ownership and retention, and the need for the facilities and infrastructure to fabricate semiconductors.

June 26, 2025: Twenty-three recipients representing twenty projects of the first round of FABrIC Challenge Projects were announced today. Leveraging $35.6M in total investment, the $13.4M in funding provided by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), calls on the semiconductor industry to innovate in product and process development to enhance the resilience of the supply chain for Canadian industry, from healthcare to the automotive sector. Managed by CMC Microsystems, FABrIC is a five-year, $223 million initiative to secure Canada’s future in semiconductors.

June 6, 2025: CMC Microsystems had the honour of hosting the 28th World Micromachine Summit, held from June 3-5, 2025. Gordon Harling, President and CEO of CMC, also served as head of the Canadian delegation at this year’s Summit.

May 20, 2025: CMC Microsystems President and CEO Gordon Harling will be one of the keynote speakers at the InnoVex Forum in Taiwan in May of this year. Held concurrently with the COMPUTEX ICT procurement tradeshow, InnoVEX is a unique startup exhibition where firms at any stage of development can connect with partners to grow their business.

May 15, 2025: CMC Microsystems, a national organization developing innovations in advanced technologies, has announced a key hire, and several personnel changes and enhancements to respond to continued growth in the demand for services. 

April 28, 2025: CMC Microsystems will participate in a mission with 14 companies from the United Kingdom visiting Canada for the week of April 28, 2025.

April 22, 2025: For the first time in its history, CMC Microsystems was part of the Team Canada delegation at HANNOVER MESSE 2025, the world’s premier industrial trade fair, which took place from March 31 to April 4 in Hannover, Germany, and drew over 150,000 attendees from across the globe. CMC along with several other organizations represented Canada’s semiconductor ecosystem. This included many members of FABrIC, an initiative to accelerate made-in-Canada IoT products and semiconductor fabrication processes made possible through a  $120M investment by the Government of Canada.

February 24, 2025: FABrIC, a five-year project to secure Canada’s future in semiconductors managed by CMC Microsystems, has formed a strategic partnership with SECTR, Canada’s Semiconductor Ecosystem & Center for Talent & Research. Under this partnership, FABrIC and SECTR will develop and deliver training programs to address the talent gap in semiconductor design and development.

November 18, 2024: CMC Microsystems is proud to announce the winners of TEXPO 2024. Established by CMC Microsystems, TEXPO offers graduate students in Canadian universities a unique opportunity to demonstrate their novel applications of micro-nano technologies to industry representatives and academic peers. TEXPO 2024 was held virtually.

August 23, 2024: CMC Microsystems, Canada’s leading hardware accelerator and facilitator, and McMaster University are partnering to advance research and develop new processes and training programs in the field of semiconductors and photonics.

July 10, 2024: CMC Microsystems, Canada’s leading hardware technology facilitator and accelerator, and Pasqal, a global leader in neutral atoms quantum computing, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance Canada’s quantum ecosystem. Under the partnership agreement, Pasqal will provide its proprietary Quantum Discovery Platform to CMC’s team of quantum scientists. In turn, CMC will provide use cases, development and training.

February 13, 2024 – Dr. Thomas Jones, founder, director, and CEO of Jones Microwave Inc., Senior Research Associate at Purdue University, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, has been awarded the 2023 Douglas R. February 6, 2024 – SemiQon from Finland, and Canada’s CMC Microsystems announce a collaboration agreement to advance silicon-based quantum processor technology. Under the terms of the agreement, SemiQon will supply CMC with prototypes of its semiconductor-based quantum processor chips for research purposes. CMC scientists will collaborate with SemiQon to accelerate the development of processors for more powerful quantum computers suitable for the next generation of quantum computing – the million-qubit era.

July 27, 2023: The Government of Canada placed a big bet on green technologies and clean power in Budget 2023. “Green technology” is a broad definition. We all know what being green and clean looks like, but which innovations get us there. The backbone of any technology that will get us to net zero is not what you might think. 

July 4, 2023: CMC Microsystems, Canada’s leading hardware technology facilitator, received an investment of $171,292 to fund a training initiative that is unique in the world: Build Your Own Superconducting Quantum Device workshop. This financial support is from the NovaScience program, an initiative of the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE). NovaScience financially supports the development of the next generation of scientists in Québec by emphasizing and promoting scientific culture, as well as research and development (R&D) as well as business. It also allows new graduates to gain professional experience in research and development.

CMC’s foundry partners fabricate over 480 designs

That number is expected to grow by at least ten percent in 2023.
